Model Release Examples
The examples offered below present the three model release categories that are typically applied to images in the ASU News Photoshelter galleries.
Always refer to the image caption for guidance on how the image may be used, particularly with regard to marketing and non-editorial applications.
Fully released image
The graduate pictured here has signed a model release. This image is safe for marketing purposes.
Partially released image
Only the professor has signed a model release. The students seen in the background have not. Caution should be exercised when using this photo for marketing purposes.
Image not released
No model releases have been signed. This image is ineligible for use outside of its original context.
Out of context use
The students below were captured dancing at a Herberger Institute Day event. The photo was used out of context in the social media post shown, which was taken down.
Always exercise discretion when selecting imagery for use in campaigns around sensitive topics, even when the image has been model-released.
